BABY SWALLOW

RIGHT OUTSIDE OUR KITCHEN WINDOW A PAIR OF SWALLOWS TOOK UP HOUSEKEEPING. THIS MORNING ONE OF THE BABIES SAT AT THE ENTRANCE TO ITS HOME WAITING TO BE FED. IT HAS NOT ATTEMPTED TO FLY BUT WAITS FOR PARENTS TO FEED IT. AND ALL DAY, AT LEAST EVERY 10 MINUTES, MOMMA OR DADDY FLIES IN WITH A BUG AND STUFFS IT IN BABY'S MOUTH. WHAT A JOY TO SEE THE FAITHFULNESS INSTILLED IN ONE OF THE CREATOR'S CREATURES.

Your Swallow pic's remind me, Barbara, of the pair of Falcons we have in our area. The Pop & Mom have had a little one and it sits up in the Eucalyptus Trees in our yard, & the ones on either side of us, and cries for food all day. It is a high pitched, shrill tone and when a parent comes with something it stops. We looked them up in a book and we think they are a Prairie Falcon. Smaller then I've seen as we travel but in that family none the less. I hadn't realized how noisy they could be. But, they have chased all the Crows away so that is good. :-) As long as they don't set their sights on our Humming Birds, I won't get upset. We have a family of them that have been here for years. We have two nests right outside our kitchen widow that they use from time to time. Only once have we seen a baby grow to flight stage. Something always seems to happen to them. This is a new thing for our area. God's kingdom of animals is fascinating to observe. Barbara Clawson
